Mr. Roberts (Head Trainer/Assistant Athletic Director)

mrroberts

I am a 2003 graduate of Pen Argyl Area High School. I attended Juniata College for two years where I majored in Biology with a pre-med emphasis, and attended East Stroudsburg University for 3 years, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Athletic Training and received the Dave Carlyon Athletic Training Award. Then I became a Board Certified Athletic Trainer and PA State Board of Medicine Licensed Athletic Trainer in 2008. I earned a Master's of Science Degree in Athletic Training from West Virginia University with a tuition scholarship and a graduate student assistantship at Fairmont State University in West Virginia. I published a study on Musculoskeletal Injuries in Tactical Law Enforcement. My first real job in Athletic Training was as an assistant Athletic Trainer at Muhlenberg College, before being hired as the Athletic Trainer and Assistant Athletic Director at Pen Argyl Area School District in 2011. I currently reside in the Pen Argyl Area School District with my wife and two children. I enjoy outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and building/fixing just about anything. Claims to Fame: Jerry West handed me my diploma at West Virginia University (He's the person that the NBA logo was designed to look like), so I got to shake his hand. I used to tape the ankles of 3-time Olympic rugby 7's player, Philadelphia Eagles signee, and 2-time HSBC World 7's rugby player of the year; Perry Baker, when he was in college at Fairmont State University. Look him up, he's very fast...

Favorite Thing About PAAHS

My favorite thing about my job is helping student-athletes overcome obstacles in their lives by providing quality athletic training services. Watching young people succeed at what they are passionate about, or overcome something they didn't think they could, and being there for them through injuries, is very rewarding. There is a lot of science involved in the injury-healing process, and I am proud that I can bring that knowledge to the student-athletes of Pen Argyl. You also cannot beat the deeply rooted traditions of the Pen Argyl Area School District that are not found anywhere else, or that view of those blue ridge mountains behind that lofty tower of shining white.
